If you didn’t gain it in a day, you are not going to lose it overnight. The key to staying fit is being consistent, and we, at FitNut, are committed to keep you motivated.
Check out these tried and tested ways to stay inspired.
- Set realistic goals
The key to staying motivated is to set yourself attainable goals. For instance, your first aim should be to get your form and movement right while working out, and not lifting 100 kilos. Start small, go big!
- Track your progress
It’s quite a high to see yourself making progress. Use a mobile application to track your workouts or write it down and challenge yourself to do better every week.
- Find the right time
Are you a morning person or an evening one? Start by answering that question. Find out the time of the day that best fits your schedule. However, if you still have trouble staying motivated, then working out first thing in the morning is your best bet as you are more likely to skip your workout after a long and tiring day.
- Make a good playlist
Studies suggest that listening to music while working out can increase your efficiency by up to 15 per cent. Music can also boost internal motivation by triggering positive emotions. So, download your favourite tracks before you hit the gym and stay motivated.
- Buddy up
Find yourself a workout buddy, as it will make it more likely for you to stick to your fitness regime. Compete against each other to achieve your fitness targets, as nothing is more motivating than some friendly competition.
- Change your routine
After doing the same workouts over and over again, your body will adapt to the routine and hit a plateau. A change in your fitness routine could be just what you need to stay in the game.
- Reward yourself
After each session, take a few minutes to savour the good feelings that exercise gives you. This internal reward can help you make a long-term commitment to regular exercise. Also, whenever you achieve a fitness goal, give yourself a fitness treat – a new pair of gym shoes or other gym-wear. You could even treat yourself to a relaxing massage, which is great for post-exercise recovery as well.
- Be flexible
If you’re too busy to work out or simply don’t feel up to it, take a day off. Be gentle with yourself if you need a break and don’t let a few bad workout days demotivate you.
